Growing Herbs At Home And Home Schooling For Kids

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. If you'd like to contribute articles to this blog, please Register. Thanks for visiting!

by Den M Smythe

If you are really serious about growing herbs you can visit http://kcbcc.org for information. There are interesting posts on growing herbs, tips, helpful herbs for diabetes, herbs for depression and the like. This website also gives posts on home schooling.

Herbs are small plants whose leaves give a delicate perfume and when added to food, enhance the flavor. If added to tea, they make tea tasty. Some herbs are used in candle making and scented oils as well. Herbs can be grown from ready made plants which are transplanted into your chosen area. Or they can be grown from seeds bought in the market. You have to decide whether you want the herbs to grow inside your house, or outdoors in your garden or on your patio.

Basic herbs that are normally grown are thyme, garlic, oregano, basil, dill and chives. Lavender, peppermint and chamomile are added to tea to make it delicious. There are a few herbs which are good for diabetic patients; some others are used as preventive for some diseases.

It is quite easy to grow herbs. You have to decide where you want to grow them. If they are to be grown in the house, beautiful pots and painted ones can be used. Herbs need good soil, enough space to grow, proper drainage and sunlight. If natural sunlight is not available or not possible there are special lamps which can help these herbs to grow properly. You can buy ready made plants and transplant them in your house, or you can start from seeds.

Many parents prefer home schooling for their children. Most areas have home schooling but in case your area does not have one, you can start one yourself. You can talk to parents of children and form a group. You can share the responsibilities or take on home schooling by rotation. You can start in a shed, or if the weather in your area is good, in a park, or you can also have it at home.

If there are no home schooling places in your area, you can talk to parents in your area and form a group of families with children who would prefer home schooling. You can have them in your house or an open place if the weather is good, you can hold home schooling by rotation with other parents.

You have to find out about home schooling socialization, home schooling rules and other things unless you want to land in jail. Home schooling laws are similar in most states but may vary slightly and you have to find out what they are. The main thing to realize is that these laws are created in order to help all children get a quality and well rounded education. You can also register as a private school and you can then experiment in the ways you prefer to educate your child.

Home schooling socialization can be done by taking your children to exhibitions, sales, other school programs so that they get used to meeting other children of their age and socializing.

Article Marketing - The Best Way To Start Busines

by Edward Longfell

To start your busines in a viral manner, article marketing is definitely the way to go. Your articles will be blanketed all over the Internet much more quickly than trying to just promote your website.

Web Masters are always looking for quality content and the search engines love the information they receive through articles.

Start a busines without article marketing and you just might be making a mistake. Most everyone can fill the criteria required for article marketing. You need the article itself (of course), a way to create traffic, a way to build your customers and lastly you need to be in a position to turn your visitors into money.

Take good advice and make sure that you start your busines using article marketing and you too will build a rock solid foundation that will do nothing but continue to grow.

Article marketing is a quick marketing method that can be very explosive and one that you can easily start your busines with. It doesn’t take rocket science to write an article. If you are not comfortable with it, all you have to do is go to Go Articles and type in the keyword phrase that you want to write an article about and take notes. Then you simply rewrite the article so that it is now an original article. Never use someone else’s article exactly as you see it, that is plagiarism and you can get in trouble for doing that.

The holy grail of Internet marketing is fresh content. You can start your busines off the bat using article marketing and be in a better position than most other marketing methods. While you will be educating people, you will also provide web masters with their much needed content.

The best way to start busines practices that will greatly benefit your business is by creating one article per day, per website.

When you start your busines and begin writing articles for submission to article directories, you are well on your way to creating content for your own website. This is due to the fact that many article marketers use their articles to create posts for their website/blog every day which immediately solves their need for fresh content.

By creating content, you are ensuring that the search engines will love you. Most major search engines constantly look for good content and rank the websites that have fresh content higher on their engine. In order to make sure that your article gets the most bang for the buck, proper keyword research is a must. That means that you must put your keyword or keyword phrase in the title and the body of your article. In this article my keyword phrase was start busines and yes I know I have spelled it incorrectly. That is due to the fact that you can rank for misspelled keywords as well. Just make sure that they get a good number of searches on Google.

There are many article directories but the main three are Article Dashboard, Go Articles, and Ezine Articles. But instead of submitting directly to the article directories, it is better to use a submission service such as Isnare. They reach hundreds and hundreds of directories, especially the larger ones such as the ones stated above.

When it comes to making an incredible living online, article marketing is just the tip of the iceberg. If you truly want to live the life of your dreams…

Why All Bloggers Must Participate in Blog Carnivals (Part 2)

by Jared Conley

In the earlier article in this series, I discussed what blog carnivals are and why all aspiring bloggers should be participating in them. In the event that you missed that post, let me review briefly the benefits of participating in blog carnivals:

* They increase your authority

* You immediately gain regular, profitable readers of your partner blogs

* You get an immediate boost of traffic to blog posts

* You get a long term improvement in search result rankings

What I’d like to review in this article is how you can derive the most benefit out of your carnival efforts. Let’s be real, carnivals take time and effort, so you should get the most benefit and good will from them as possible. Here’s how you can do just that:

1) Add your articles early. There will be a call for entries deadline, but it’s likely that the host already has some idea on how the article will be structured before the deadline, so you want your article available during this planning stage.

2) Make the host’s job easy: Learn how to create blog post titles that are clever, and brainstorm two or three powerful, compelling headings that can be used for the anchor text in links. Good headings are hard to create, so create them on your own. You’ll save the host the effort and get more traffic from a better headline.

3) Follow the entry guidelines.

4) Get organized: Organize the information you enter. Include your name, e-mail address, blog name, post title, article summary, several sample headings, permalink, and trackback URL. Place this information in an e-mail above the full article itself, unless otherwise directed.

5) Promote: Once submitted, be sure to advertise the carnival. What goes around comes around, and your collaborative efforts to drive traffic will payoff for everyone in the long run. That’s the point of these carnivals: all participants are sharing readers, giving each the opportunity to attract the others’ regular subscribers.

6) Make sure your blog can handle your traffic: Prepare your blog for any traffic spikes that might occur, and optimize the page that the carnival readers will be viewing. You’ll want to target the offers or ads to your audience, provide a very visible subscription link, and follow-up with at least one week’s worth of solid articles to capitalize on any repeat traffic you might have.

Blog carnivals are a terrific way to attract relevant, qualified, profitable, long-term readers. Use them intelligently and you’ll reap the rewards. But you must be prepared to put your best foot forward. Pick up a good blogs how to if you have any doubts on how you can prepare your blog for this kind of traffic.

Learn The Fool Proof Strategy For Network Marketing Success!

by Kylon Trower

After many months of talking to new internet marketers and aspiring network marketing entrepreneurs I have come to one forgone conclusion, no one takes the time to make a plan. Imagine that, going into the battle of business with no plan of action and no firm commitments to speak of. If you start you home business, like the majority do, on a wing and a prayer I will guarantee you will find yourself a casualty like more than 95% who fail in home business today.

I cannot stress this point enough! The plan is the basic foundation for success and far too many are expecting their sponsor or someone else to work out the details and it never happens. Others never really give it much thought which I’ve found even more astonishing.

In many cases, I’ve asked individuals if they have a plan of action and they quickly respond, “Oh yeah, I’ve got a plan of action!” Then I ask them to produce it for me. I tell them that I’d like to take a look at it and more often than not they tell me that it’s in their head. Well here is what I’ll say to that, If your plan is in your head, then more than likely your success will be in your head too!

This may seem a little negative but it is true and the truth isn’t always so pretty. It’s only when we realize the gravity of where we are can we make the changes we need.

Look at it this way, if a professional sports team went into a game without any sense of what they were gonna do and tried to wing it on every play, how do you think they’d do? Or maybe the question should be how bad do you think they would do?

Probably wouldn’t be too strong a season right? Network Marketing is the exact same way and there are too many losing seasons to count when it comes to our industry.

Now I do realize that many Network Marketing companies have training and support to some degree, however, significant planning is really missing in most companies I’ve seen over the years. Many get skills that are never implemented because they were never added to the “Playbook”. Most bounce from tactic to technique never really gaining any real momentum.

We all know from history that this approach never works in anything you do. It’s like throwing something against a wall and hoping it sticks.

Committing your plan of action to paper is critically important to your overall success in your Network Marketing business. Without a clearly defined map or blueprint, very few achieve success. Break down your goals into little action steps that eventually get down to what you need to do every single day to reach those goals. Don’t fall victim to the number one reason Network Marketers are failing today, a lack of planning.

Due to the limits of this article it is virtually impossible for me to go over everything in detail but it starts with transferring your thoughts to paper. If you’d like to check out my site I can share more with you and even unveil my proven formula for Network Marketing success.

Blogging - Simply Express Yourself

by Stuart G Martin

Ever wanted to rant and rave about how life is unfair? Well, life is unfair, nobody can blame you for wanting to complain. If you give in to that temptation, though, you suddenly find yourself labeled as a whiner. Or worse, whoever you want to complain to decides to rant and rave right back without listening.

So how do you take that out from your system? It is actually pretty easy. Just write away those feelings and let them out. The world of blogging is just for you, waiting to hear all about your annoyances.

When you have something on your mind, you have to let it out. You also need someone to agree with you. Let’s face it, nobody wants logical reasoning when you just want to get something off your chest.

Indulging in self-pity is not a crime, especially when you are able to find many who feel the same. Letting it out among kindred spirits can make you feel so much better.

This is why going through a few blogs by similar minded people, and you will find plenty of similar minded people, will do you a world of good. You can scribble something about how you feel, put it up, then browse around and find kindred souls, leave a few comments letting them know you know exactly how they feel, and voila! you’ll feel tons better.

If you prefer a rational discussion that explains your point of view, blogging again is the step to take. No matter what you’re concerned about - whether it’s your favourite contestant on American Idol being voted off, or the presidential election, or the stock market crash, or the black hole into which pairs of socks mysteriously disappear - you can put your take up in your blog, and find both people who agree and those who disagree, for your rational discussion.

Subjects that belong to your daily life, like having a difference of opinion with your girlfriend or boyfriend, can also be mentioned in the blogging space. As a matter of fact, if you write down your emotions and read them back, you will see things in a different perspective.

When you are in distress, you want to find someone with whom you can share your anxieties. And you are not alone. There are many people who share the same anxieties as you do. Blogs solve this problem. You can now find people with similar thinking. All you have to do is to convert your emotions into words.

Workplace Research Challenges “Grumpy Old Men” Stereotype

by Andrew Baud

Findings prove that older workers are the most flexible

New research from Talent Q, a people assessment company that helps employers recruit and manage talent, has shown that older workers are the most flexible. In-depth analysis of over 5,700 workers reveals that as people get older they become increasingly willing to take on new tasks and more varied roles.

The research defies the common preconception that older workers are unwilling to accommodate change and that they may be unresponsive to new challenges presented in the workplace.

The study had numerous positive findings, with older workers being happy to work on their own and take a leading role without the need for much guidance. They also demonstrate a high level of ability in building successful working relationships with colleagues, clients and suppliers. Intelligence testing revealed that older workers’ verbal reasoning was the same as their younger colleagues and while they take longer to calculate answers to numerical problems, they are equally able. While it was shown that workers in their fifties and sixties are much less ambitious than their younger colleagues, this is simply thought to be a sign that they have achieved their goals or decided that they are happy with their lot in life.

Steve O’Dell, chief executive of Talent Q, said: “Older people in the workplace might sometimes be viewed as being stuck in their ways and a little less sharp. Our research gives a very different perspective.”

“Talent Q found that older workers are less preoccupied about climbing the career ladder and that they tend to be happy, fulfilled and confident. As a result, they are glad to take on new work or projects, and aren’t unduly phased by lots of changes. They tend to plough on regardless - a fact that employers are quickly discovering can be a real benefit to their business.

“With an ageing population, and therefore an ageing workforce, the challenge for employers is to understand how to motivate and energise workers in their fifties and sixties. These research findings should be very helpful to employers looking to build well-balanced, effective teams.”

Personality assessment

- Employers have previously used different personality assessments for recruiting people, developing people and managing teams. Dimensions is unique as it incorporates all measures into a single assessment - Superior understanding and measurement of the key aspects of personality have allowed Talent Q to reduce the time taken to complete a personality assessment from one hour to half an hour - Feedback to employers is insightful and actionable. For recruiters, the feedback includes very specific interview questions which help them to further determine candidates’ strengths and weaknesses

Intelligence assessment

- Doing away with a multiplicity of verbal and numerical intelligence tests for people of different levels, Elements gives employers a single, unbiased, benchmark test - The online questionnaire is ‘dynamic’ - it changes according to the candidate’s capability as they progress through it - With one test for the entire organisation, and the removal of graduate/non graduate versions, Talent Q is helping organisations find talent in unexpected places

Research validity

The findings were based on data from over 5,700 people who have completed Dimensions. Over 4,900 of these people provided detailed bio-data. For the purposes of this release, correlations above 0.1 have been regarded as the minimum to be deemed psychological significant (as opposed a 0.03 benchmark usually used to prove statistical significance).

Dissecting the Successful Cold Call

by Valerie Schlitt, President of VSA, Inc.

When you’re the one who receives the cold call, what is the sales person doing to create success?

Introduction You’re deep into your work and the phone rings. Someone wants to sell you something. You think to yourself, ‘Another sales person? Talking to this person is the last thing I want to do right now,’ and you begin to hang up.

Analysis: Less than 25% - and more like 10% - of cold calls reach the decision maker on a single try. Equally importantly, recipients never expect a cold call and want to end the call almost immediately.

It is critical that the sales person be respectful and quickly present a compelling statement about why they are calling, without being too eager.

Conversation The sales person starts talking about something you’ve already been thinking about, or something you might actually want to learn more about.

Analysis: About 20% of decision makers will have an interest in continuing a conversation. The best prospects are familiar with the product or service and already want to buy it. But, a good caller can also pique the interest of those who ‘might’ have a need.

An overly-persistent caller will annoy those with no interest, denigrate the brand, and waste time.

Conversation, continued While you’re interested, this is just not the right time. Besides, you need some proof the company is legitimate before you agree to meet. You ask for more information.

Analysis: About 90% of decision makers who ask for more information simply want to get off the phone. A good sales person can tell when the decision maker might have true interest. Otherwise, sending more information is a waste of time and money.

Conversation, continued You and the sales person talk a bit about your needs. The sales person learns that you are involved in the decision making process.

Analysis: Yes, all good sales people ask for the appointment first. No experienced cold caller resorts immediately to ’sending more information.’ However, despite what some sales courses say, often a decision maker requires documentation before agreeing to a meeting.

The sales person always tries to send information directly to the decision maker and not to an assistant or secretary. (Sometimes the gatekeeper is the only way in the door, however.)

Email This sales person sends you a professional email, from an account that is not Yahoo or Hotmail and attaches a professionally created PDF. A website address is included.

Analysis: A generic email address is an automatic red flag. Companies who do not have web sites, likewise, reduce their credibility.

Conversation, continued The sales person calls you back, at the agreed upon time. This time, you pick up the phone and are ready to talk. The sales person references prior notes, showing they remember you.

Analysis: Who knows? You might become a client.

What went right?

1) Got quickly to the point, so you didn’t hang up first. 2) Asked questions to confirm that you were truly interested. 3) Confirmed that you had decision making authority. 4) Set a specific time to call you back. 5) Acted respectfully and professionally.

Top 3 Success Secrets Internet Network Marketing Gurus Won’t Tell

by Kylon Trower

If you are anything like me then you know what it feels like to shell out money and get half truths and flat out lies when it comes to building a solid home based business. I don’t even want to count the money I’ve spent on this course or that e-book trying to get real answers. Anyway, on that note I’m here to share the no-hype, real truth when it comes to building a solid internet network marketing business.

I’m going to warn you out the gate that what I’m going to share isn’t what you think. It’s not the latest scheme or method for exploding you internet network marketing business but it has everything to do with its growth.

Now open your mind like a parachute (it works best when it’s open) and allow me to share some very profound information that will help you have great internet network marketing success. Just so you know, the heavy hitters would kill me if they new I was giving it to you straight.

Hold on to these three little nuggets of information tightly and they’ll create a ton of success in your internet network marketing career!

1. Everything out there in the marketplace works. Some stuff works better than others but it all works. What I’ve found more often than not is that a lot of people are a afraid of a little hard work. Nugget # 1 is to find something, no matter how small it is and master it. Even if it takes some time, work hard at mastering it and you’ll see profits in that area…guaranteed!

2. Everyone that you see or meet on the internet is not a gazillionaire! You aren’t alone in your pursuit to greatness. Never forget that and take one step at a time and be consistent (that means daily if you need clarity) in your efforts and you will reach your goals in the time frame allotted for YOU! It’s not about what everybody else is doing.

3. You can’t do it alone! Everyone needs a coach and community to be successful. If you are locked up in your house staring at the computer all day and not communicating, sharing and being actively involved with others, success is difficult. Engage in community and give without any expectation and things will start happening in your business.

Alright, let’s go over these again in basic layman’s terms:

1. Hard, focused work (this is where you get traction in your business)

2. Stay Consistent (Not once a week or when you get around to it, everyday)

3. Mentoring And Community (it’s all about people and personal development)

Like I said before, I knew before you read this you’d probably think to yourself, “Kylon, I already knew that and now I’ve just wasted three and a half minutes of my life reading this article!”

On the other hand, ask yourself this question. Am I doing these things to grow my internet network marketing business everyday? It actually takes, focused, hard and shared (leveraged) work to be successful and internet network marketing is no exception.

See most people want to multi-task, not focus, work smart, not hard and do it on their own instead of working together. The gurus promote instant cash and walk away riches but very rarely, if ever, promote the basic concept of hard work. Why, because hard work doesn’t sell.

So, now that you’ve got a basic game plan and your foundation is set, feel free to check me out if you need some more specifics on what you might need to be working on first. All the best and keep your head up, the view is a lot better that way!
