For the most part, affiliate marketers either fail to make any money or are not as successful as they could be due to lack of focus. They jump from one affiliate strategy to the next without actually spending the time necessary to give any of them a chance to work.

Affiliate marketing is actually ideal if you are just starting out trying to make money on the internet because you only need to concentrate on promoting products, not developing your own product. Despite the challenges, selling products as an affiliate could be your key to a very successful online business.

Quite a few affiliate programs make available information and ideas on how to promote their products. Plus, they equip you with the necessary tools you need like banner ads, text links, articles and more. Picking the best affiliate product to sell may be kind of challenging initially, but with a little practice, it is achievable.

The keys to becoming successful in affiliate marketing is knowing how to pick the right affiliate products, finding a strategy for promoting those products and staying focused on working your plan. You achieve success by concentrating on a single strategy for long enough to determine if it’s working or not.

Keep in mind, having patience is crucial because if you give up too soon, it’ll cost you in the end. Digging down deep to find your inner strength will get you a long way towards building a business as an affiliate marketer. And, it’s what it’ll take for you to earn the kind of money that’s possible on the internet.

However, if what you’re doing isn’t generating much income after several months, you will need to adjust your strategy. You shouldn’t need to completely change it, just spend a bit of time developing it further. Maybe there are some techniques that you didn’t know until now. It’s important to educate yourself about all aspects of affiliate marketing, a little bit at a time.

As you gain more experience with affiliate marketing, you’ll make the necessary modifications to your strategy and before you know it, you’ll be making a great income!

Can I Make a Full-Time Income from Blogging?

by Tamara Riddle

Most writers dream of being able to write full-time and get paid for it. Unfortunately, writers who pursue writing as a career find out quickly that they must spend a great deal of time writing before making much money at it. Their dream seems far out of reach so the writer ends up taking a regular job and puts off writing until they can find enough free time.

These days, blogging offers a different method for making money as a writer. Most bloggers make money blogging by placing Adsense ads on their blogs or by recommending affiliate products to their readers, products which are related to the topics in the posts.

There are pros and cons involved with blogging and the potential of earning a full-time income depends on how the writer takes the good with the bad. One of the good things about blogging is that it doesn’t take a huge amount of writing to begin generating some income. Income is made from blogging as a result of how many people read your blog and respond to it by taking action on the writer’s recommendations.

Can you make a full-time income from blogging? It’s certainly possible, however, it won’t happen overnight, not unless you spend twelve to fourteen hours a day blogging and have a huge number of people visiting your blog, reading and buying the affiliate products you recommend or clicking the Adsense ads on your blogs.

Earning a full-time income by blogging usually requires working at it full-time, including some overtime here and there. It’s not a part-time thing you can just do a few hours a week and expect to be rolling in dough. Plus, if you write original, intriguing content, which generates discussion among your readers, you’ll be on your way to earning a full-time income from blogging.

There you have it, if you enjoy writing, or aspire to becoming a professional writer, give blogging a try! It could turn out to be a way to generate an income from Adsense or by recommending affiliate products. As a bonus, you may even achieve fame, as well as a reputation as a great writer.

What is “nofollow” and why you should disable it

by Zigfred Diaz

Sometimes I do some blog hopping and I find a lot of good blogs out there. So I try to follow what they are doing in the hope of increasing my money from blogging. Lately I have noticed a lot of “U Comment I follow” sign. It is only now that I have discovered what they really meant.

“U Comment I follow” basically means is that if you place a comment in a blog whcih bears such sign, the search engines will follow the links placed by the commentor resulting in a back link to the commentor’s blog.

There are search engines (Like Google) who alleged that they do not follow the links in the comments. Some say that this is not true because of a test done. Other less popular search engines (like yahoo, msn etc.) say they treat the links as if it is any other link. No matter what they say, one thing is clear, disabling the “No follow” will both be advantagous to the owner of the blog and the commentor.

So what does “Nofollow” really mean? Google started out this controversy. They noticed that spammers are busy commenting on blogs so that they could a lot of back links (Take note that back links help boost a blog or website’s search engine ranking) To prevent spammers from manipulating the search engine rankings, and to eventually stop spamming, Google started to implement the “nofollow” policy when it comes to comments. This move then became popular with other search engines.

Did they succeed ? Well spammers still spam. In fact the spam problem is much worse now than ever before. Word Press founder Matt Mullenweg has this to say about the failure of “No follow” - “In theory this should work perfectly, but in practice although all major blogging tools did this two years ago and comment and trackback spam is still 100 times worse now. In hindsight, I don’t think nofollow had much of an effect, though I’m still glad we tried it.”

With that in mind it makes no sense to continue to allow “nofollow” considering that it has no effect. (This is enabled by default) Spam filters are much more better in doing the job than continuing to allow “nofollow”. Sadly, “no-follow” punishes the commentor with legitimate and sensible comments. As one blogger nicely says it “PUNISH SPAMMERS, NOT BLOGGERS.”

5 Common Mistake to Avoid With Any Small Business Ideas

by Stephen Meyer

There is only one reason to start an Internet Based Affiliate Marketing Business, it is to make sales. Making money is the reason most people start any business. A major mistake most people make when first starting out with affiliate marketing is the assumption money can be made overnight and it’s easy.

By understanding some of the most common mistakes made by new Internet marketers you can shorten the time it takes to build your business and often lower the cost.

Success is not guaranteed in any business but it can be helped by learning common mistakes and how to avoid them.

1. Joining an online business based on the look of their web site and banners is a major mistake. Many online opportunities try to entice newbies with fancy web pages and banners but offer very little else. Researching each opportunity you are interested in is the key to making a smart decision. Searching for products that offer a wide consumer base and are in a Niche market will promote success.

2. You want your products to compliment each other. Many new marketers will try and sell as many affiliate products as they possibly can. This is not only difficult to work for you the marketer it can be confusing to your potential customers. By choosing products that relate to each other and that can build upon each other you will increase your chances of building a strong affiliate business with loyal customers.

A good suggestion is to have 3-4 related products and one or two promotional products. The promotional products could be free link exchanges that offer an affiliate program. These will give new enrollees a place to advertise for free while building a business.

3. The idea that Internet based affiliate marketing is an easy way to make fast money is another major mistake. While you do not need to be a fully experienced Internet marketer when you start you will need to plan for success. Most online opportunities have training areas that you will need to study and use.

Also, take the time to search out online training materials. The Internet is full of free training that will help you build your marketing knowledge. Once you have found the training materials you need take the time everyday to study and to learn as much about online business marketing as you can.

4. The majority of online business opportunities will supply you with free web pages designed to promote your business and gather new customers. You will need more than these pages to be successful. Having your own web site and personal domain name will give you much more credibility and is a must for an online business.

When building your web site you want it to have a professional appeal by being neatly organized. Your content should be full of knowledge and fact that will establish you as an expert in your business. This will not only help to build your consumer base it will also help to build your affiliate partner base. A neat well organized web site is a must for any online business.

5. Quitting to soon because of frustration and lack of progress is one of the major mistakes many new online marketers make. It takes a lot of time and money to build a business and unfortunately many people will give it up just before it takes off.

The first thing you must understand about building an online business is it will take time and money to do so. It is not free and it is not quick. If you understand that from the beginning and refuse to quit too soon your chances of success will be greatly increased.

You need to commit to building your online business. The first commitment you make should be to invest a minimum of one year to building your business.

You must set a spending budget to be successful. There are many programs and opportunities that require you to spend a lot of money. Having a budget will keep from spending on the wrong products and from financially crippling yourself.

Online success can not be guaranteed by anyone but it can be greatly improved by avoiding a few simple mistakes and by committing yourself to your new business. Success is not out of reach for anyone who is willing to invest the time and money wisely in building their business

You’re intent is to convince your reader to look into the product you’re promoting and decide for themselves if it’s something they want to buy. It’ll involve some well-informed writing and a humorous writing style to achieve your objective. However, if you’re a pleasant, entertaining blogger, you’ll get the hang of it in very quickly.

Many opportunities are out there for you, whether or not you have a lot of special skills.

If you have no specialized skills or talents, consider word processing or data entry, bot of which can be done online on a freelance basis. Furthermore, these entry level jobs are a good way to get one’s foot in the door for future projects.

It does not hurt if you lack some skill, but if you do have skill, then the earnings multiply. More skilled freelance jobs offer better money, and a good chance of repeat work. Hundreds of freelance jobs are being offered everyday on dedicated sites like GetaFreelancer and ScriptLance. By placing some bids on these sites, and with a bucketful of dedication, you can definitely get a job.

Freelance jobs may be very dedicated and full-time for some, and also have the headaches of bidding, winning the bids and getting the work done. Filling out surveys is another simple way to earn money online. This can mesh well with almost any schedule and allows you to earn some extra income in your free time.

One thing to think about before getting started on any of these ways of earning money online is whether or not the money you earn can easily be transferred to you. If you can’t enjoy your earnings, what’s the point after all? Best of luck to you and happy earnings!

Get Explosive Business Growth with One Simple Technique

by Mark Hall

If you are looking for a way to grow your business faster than last year you need to read this article. I will share a principle of human psychology that if properly implemented could grow your business to new heights.

We all have our differences, but I will focus on an aspect of humanity that is common to us all. Go to any part of this Earth, regardless of culture, we all look to others to determine what is right and wrong. The actions of others help us decide what’s appropriate.

Think about the time you were on the highway driving the speed limit and you were approached by a group of fast driving cars. They all risk getting ticketed for speeding. What happens to your speed? If you are not careful you find yourself driving faster keeping up with this group of cars. The behavior of others influences your behavior.

If you still aren’t convinced consider a popular tactic used by the best advertising firms across the country. How many times have you seen some celebrity endorsing a certain product? They do it because it works. We see the celebrity and figure if its good enough for them it must be good enough for us.

Another popular tactic that capitalizes on this principle is the use of testimonials. If you are deciding whether to purchase a certain item or not who’s opinion do you trust more? The sales person who stands to gain a commission from the sale or a customer who used the product and submitted an unsolicited testimonial. The customer testimonial holds more weight because we consider that person a peer. It’s no wonder customer testimonials are like gold to a business.

I think you now understand that people in general are deeply influenced by the opinions others. How would you like to get this principle working for your business? Here are 5 ways you can put this technique to work and boost your business.

Always reference customer testimonials.

You may notice one of your products has a low amount of refunds, disclose this to your customers. For instance, “Only 4% of people request a refund after making a purchase.”

Track your sales. Let your prospective customers know, “44% of people who viewed this presentation joined my business.”

Reference any Celebrity or Big Business Associations.

Measure customer satisfaction. “94% of customers report that they were satisfied with their purchase.”

Don’t Waste Money on that Website!

by Lisa Munoz

If you have a website, do you know how effective it is? If you don’t have a website and you’re thinking of trying one for your business, do you know the difference between an effective website and one that is a waste of money? The questions that follow will help you plan for the success of your website, regardless of if you’re redesigning a website or if you’re brand new to this online business marketplace.

- Does your website have a goal? Many websites are designed to generate sales while others are educational websites. Still other websites’ entire purpose is to gather leads. Take the time to think of the goal of your website. The design of your website depends on your goals. If you’re not clear on those goals, your website won’t be effective.

- Who will benefit from your website? Your language, content, and pictures will all need to be targeted towards your audience. A website for attorneys will be different from a website for people hoping to sign up for a class action lawsuit.

- What is the most effective path for your website visitors to follow? Depending on your website goal, you will want most of your customers to enter your home page and then proceed to a specific destination. Map this out before hand to capitalize off of each visitor. Make sure you make your website’s links simple and easy to use. Fancy animated links are difficult for the search engines to read.

- Does your website call people to take action? Unless your site is purely informational, the visitors to your site will need to be urged to take action- buy now, click here, sign up now. Whatever it is, make sure you are directing your visitors to take action. Otherwise, they will most likely just click wander and click away from your site.

- How will you gauge the effectiveness of your website? Are you trying to generate large numbers of visitors? Do you want people to sign up? Do you want people to purchase items from your store? Do you want people to come to a physical location? Whatever your goal, you need some way of measuring it. Otherwise, how will you know what works and what doesn’t?

Even if you are hiring a professional website designer to make your website for you, you will still need clear answers to each of these questions in order to have the most effective website possible. The more clear you are in your pre-website planning, the more likely it is your website will help you be successful.

Optimize For Google - Getting To The Top Of The Search Engines

by Noel Swanson

How do you do it?

Here we will help you develop a sensible strategy for promoting your website by weeding out all of the nonsense, myths and hype.

First of all, what puts a page at the top of the rankings?

Search Engines are out to deliver the most current, relevant and accurate information to the public. They do this by using top secret algorithms for site rankings. Therefore, they are at constant war with SEO experts, whose goal is to ensure the top is dominated by their clients.

Top rankings can be achieved by two “strategies”:

“Black Hat Strategies” and “White Hat Strategies”

White Hat refers to strategies that work with the search engines - to deliver quality, relevant, accurate, timely information.

Black hat goes against the Search Engines by cheating and exploiting loopholes. These strategies can work but are only effective for a short time until the programmers at Google find out what you are doing, ban you and fix that loophole.

There are certain strategies that have been proven to work, have survived the test of time, and make sense for raising ranking factors, thus furthering the goal of the Search Engines:

1. High quality content relevant to your theme. The more content present on a site, the better it will be recognized. Search engines use AI programs known as “latent semantic indexing” programs to decipher what websites are about, as opposed to just what keywords are within the content. Keywords still play a vital role but now other content that relates to your theme is also relevant as it is now taken into account by the artificial intelligence.

2. Links to your site. In general, the more the merrier. But not all links are created equal. Links on themed sites are worth more than on pages that are not related to your theme, ie links to your fishing site from another fishing site are worth more than if they come from a cooking site. Links from “bad neighborhoods” count for nothing. They don’t penalize you for other people linking to you, but they certainly don’t reward you for links coming from link farms, Free-For-All pages (FFA), and any other sites they consider to be bad. Links from “authority sites” are worth more. Some indication of a site’s value is given by the Google Page Rank - the higher the better. In time, the Page Rank will probably become theme specific - ie your site could have a high PR for one theme, and a low one for another.

3. Sites that are older -PR generally rises in time if all factors are equal. Sites that have been around for longer are more valuable than new ones due to this.

4. Fresh sites - In the Search Engine’s quest to find hot news, they generally look to new sites and therefore give initial priority to the newer sites. SE’s also look for links pointing to these new sites as they are sometimes a stepping stone to other new content.

5. Outgoing links - Too many links can be a bad thing, especially when linking to bad neighborhoods. Though bad links coming in are not penalized, ones going out certainly are. Links out to authority sites are quite worthwhile.

6. The keywords themselves - obviously some keywords are a lot more competitive than others. Aim to get ranked for your most specific keywords first. If you are a local business, then tag on the name of your town or state to the keyword.

7. Unique content. This is the key to both pages that link to you and your own site itself. Search Engine’s are out to deliver original content; no one wants to see multiple pages of the same information. The most common way of people letting all their hard work go to waste is to copy the same pages everyone else is using. Search Engines are quick to filter out duplicate content.
