Home Office - How to Improve Productivity by Organizing Your Home

Is your home office space affecting your productivity? Do you hunt for pens and pencils continuously? Is your document search an exercise in frustration? Are your papers a chronological stack of filing that is impossible to successfully navigate? Do you have an irrational fear of a paper flood catastrophe if you look for something at the bottom of the pile?
Every home office deals with excess paper and whether you are running a small or large business, it is still something to contend with, and one that gets worth when there is no organization.
So, what do you do to wrestle the clutter-beast into submission?
Space - The Essential Ingredient
One of the largest challenges of staying organized is the ability to set up a system where you have room to grow. Space is essential.
If you organize a drawer, take everything out and replace it in the drawer but still have no space to put anything else in that drawer, you have pretty much wasted your time. The un-filed pile of papers remains and will simply grow again.
Be certain to have at least a quarter to a third (more if possible) of growing room when implementing a system. You may need to change over at some point, but having some extra space will encourage you to keep up with the organizing.
This system includes everything from architectural drawings to products and documents you accumulate in the course of doing business.
Adding home office desks and storage organization items will go a long way towards making your organization implementation successful. Set aside time to get rid documents that are no longer relevant. This will allow for more space. Invest in a scanner and make PDF files out of things that can be stored electronically.
Keep It Simple
Do not make your system too complicated or it will be hard to follow through. Color-coding can be the easiest if you do not have too many categories. This is effective for systems, which only require ‘Income’, ‘Expense’, ‘Projects’, ‘Correspondence’, or something similar.
When filing large groups of projects, clients, or invoices, try utilizing a single draw for each group of like files. Get a tall filing cabinet that can be divided into either chronological or alphabetical systems.
For things that you use very frequently, consider getting a cork, posting or white board that you can place near your desk. This works for phone number lists, client projects and outlines, ‘To-Do’ lists and appointment calendars.
Maintaining Order
A filing system is only as good as the upkeep. You may find it easier to have a small system of files located on or near your desk and daily or weekly transfer the items into their permanent home.
The system will also work for stuff that you need off and on as the project you are working on progresses. Things like price lists, if you’re dealing with products, lists and articles that you need to add to a website, rewrites and the like. If you need to refer to it continuously, then you want it close.
Style of Filing
Consider if you can realistically maintain a filing system. Perhaps labeled boxes would suit you better (especially if you tend to pile papers). The key is to find something you will feel comfortable maintaining. If papers are sorted and occasionally purged, your system will work.
All Things Need a Place
Every piece of paper, each pen or pencil, the stapler and staple removers, post-it notes and the like need a place to sit. When you use them, replace them. Do not allow clutter to pile up around you or your business efforts and productivity will slow. You want to recognize ways to keep yourself as organized as possible in order for your business pursuits to go smoothly. Be sure and give yourself a little reward for keeping your system going, too!

Ex-Lead Company CEO Spills The Beans - The Secret Methods
I was the CEO and President of a major lead company. In 2007, I sold that company because I saw the writing on the wall. The last five-seven years have been very good to lead companies in a variety of different verticals. The tide has changed and if you didn’t know this already, your about to see a massive wave of new successes in the field of lead generation.
I didn’t start my company with a big bank roll. Although, when I entered the market, we quickly became the fastest growing company in our industry. I feel very fortunate to have sold my company before the turn in the industry became totally obvious. New business owners very day are finding the secret to the online traffic formula.
Since the mid 1990’s I’ve been creating systems to help companies generate more prospects and customers. The slow down in real estate and financial markets has created an environment that needs more than ever a better way of getting customers. This, combined with an increase of easy access points online to generate leads, is fueling a massive opportunity. Some call it the perfect storm.
Do a quick check of the news on how the music industry is doing. You’ll see it is hurting, because it tried to stay with an old, broken business model. The internet is full of small business owners who are now learning the online traffic formula. The opportunity to generate massive leads is process driven and systematic. This means the business owner can be totally uneducated to how or why the web works the way it does and still have massive success if they follow the, paint by numbers, online traffic formula.
The most universal need in the marketplace will always be leads. The ability to generate leads and the ability to teach companies how to generate leads is a powerful position to have in any company. Learning the skill is easier than you might think. You don’t need to be a techie and you don’t need a big advertising budget. If you focus your time to learn the skill, you will be a highly valuable asset in the marketplace.
Try to envision the future of the internet for a moment. The speed of change on the internet is hard to keep in focus. It can be the most difficult challenge to of all. If your a non techie, you might think this whole opportunity of learning an online traffic formula is out of reach. Just know that a total non techie has changed thousands of lives with the simplest, yet most important skills of all, lead generation.
Lead generation is the simplest process after you have learned it. I guess that goes for learning any new skill. It seems hard at first, however, it get easier and easier each time you learn and test a new tactic. Sometimes taking the first step can be the hardest of all. I hope your internet research leads you into a new lead generation mindset.

Track Your Children with New GPS Technology
Global Positioning systems (or GPS) technology is becoming an increasingly popular means by which parents can accurately determine the location of their children at any given moment. By utilizing an array of satellites originally deployed by the government for security uses, GPS systems can literally pinpoint the exact location of anyone carrying the appropriate locator chip.
This allows parents to outfit their children with the GPS technology and to then have the power to monitor their whereabouts if any concerns should arise. The possible safety advantages offered by a GPS child monitoring system are substantial and parents are beginning to embrace the technology as it become increasingly “mainstream” and available.
Many systems are offered from the simple wrist units to GPS bags and backpacks. The potential benefit to users is obvious. If a child gets lost wearing a GPS wrist unit, the parents and police have an effective way of locating them quickly. These wrist units, however, are not for all children. With younger children, it might be useless in that they could forget or lose the wristwatch because they are not used to wearing one. In older children, it might be more effective.
Cell phones are another GPS chip repository. These units are very popular with children and are less likely to be lost or forgotten at home. As a result, many parents are giving their children cell phones, which serve a dual purpose - allows the parent to call the child, and allows a child to be tracked.
One manufacturer has taken GPS technology to the next level offering a chip in a plastic sleeve that fits around the cellular telephone. While these are becoming more common, for very young children, the need to carry a cell phone may be confusing.
This is where book bags, backpacks, and GPS-enabled lunch boxes might be a better option. All these products are currently being rolled off the assembly line ready for retail purchase for children who take them to school and return home, but do not tend to go much further. In other words, you can track very young children with these products. While a cell phone would not be suitable, these other options would fit perfectly.
There are other things being developed including a simple necklace that has a GPS chip installed. Other ideas include charms and the like to keep up with children. GPS child tracking tools are being explored and ideas for things that fit a child’s lifestyle are an expanding business.
Any type of GPS tool will be effective when tracking and locating a child. One of the more important considerations when choosing a GPS device is its reliability and effectiveness. Price is also a consideration; however, when it comes to locating a child, most parents are willing to spend a lot to alleviate anxiety and stress.
Good performance levels should be established for the product, and it is very necessary to choose a device that matches the child in question. You cannot track a child who will not wear or will lose the device. Therefore, you need to take into account the lifestyle of the child when choosing the tracking device.

Your Clients Trust Depends On Your “Online Traffic Formula
Honesty is a great relationship builder. The more you can come across as an honest, ethical person, the sooner they will open their pocket books. Customers should never feel that they’ve been ripped off.
I myself, Trisha Frauenhofer know the importance of honest business dealings, and I work hard to go the extra mile in letting my clients feel safe in their transactions with me. That’s part of my “online traffic formula”
Cheating customers by selling your products for pennies and charging extremely high shipping costs is something that no customer likes to see.
Exorbitant shipping costs will cause customers to feel that you are being unethical and many will choose to back out of buying the product and go elsewhere. When you shopped online, wasn’t it nice when you ordered something and found out shipping was free or just a few dollars.
Always strive to sell quality products at reasonable prices. They will sell quicker than cheap products with high prices or very low prices products with very high shipping costs.
Being fair to your customers will lead to them putting their whole hearted trust in you. Many of them will return to you for their online needs, and you’ll gain referrals.
It’s easy to find out about someone’s reputation with so much customer feedback on the net. Just remember your reputation precedes you. Your reputation should be one of honesty and integrity with an emphasis on customer care. This will enure that you draw in twice as many customers and make twice as much money.

Online Traffic Formula Utilizes Memories And Emotions For Success
Memories are a major factor in how we are impacted. Memories are saved as pictures which can be accessed much easier than words. They can capture both emotions and feelings in one picture image. Remember, “A Picture is worth a thousand words.”
Do you recall all of the words that you read on the screen, or do you remeber the pictures and how the ad made you feel? Visualizations are very important in capturing people’s attention.
Emotions as well as memories play a major role in decision making. Human behavior is mostly influenced by emotions and not by logic and reason. The influence that our memories have on us drive our emotions. We want our marketing to spur emotions.
I want you to think of a word such as anger. In what way does this look to you. Was there a picture or just some facts. You probably saw an image. According to scientists, decision making cannot happen without an emotional response. This response comes from the limbic system. Without the emotion, the concious mind is unable to make a decision.
People need to access emotions to influence there behavior. Emotion drives higher traffic. Buyers want to be impacted. To effectively market, you want to figure out how consumers relate to your product and certain experiences. These experiences will bring up emotions which will influence their behavior.
Ever wonder why you watch a commercial with amazing visuals full of party lights, dancing people and fun; only to find out it is about lip gloss? There are minimal words but lots of emotion. Now the lip gloss in your mind is tied to friends and fun.
Unveiling common emotional responses will give you insight on what you must do and say to succeed with internet marketing. How your customers feel about your product is an important question. We want our customers to trust us. Understanding the mind will help you greatly with an online traffic formula.

What May Lay Ahead for Online Marketing
For this month’s article I am dusting off my crystal ball with three predictions for what I see lays ahead in the online marketing space for 2008. No guarantees - just a few things you may want to look out for in the months ahead.
Prediction No 1 - The amount of effort required to keep your email marketing audience engaged and still active will increase by a third. With a high percentage of this work focusing on improving the relevance of your content and / or the value of the offers you provide.
My rationale? Spam will continue unabated - as I have mentioned earlier in this edition 70% to 90% of all email falls into this category - even with local and oveseas legislation in force.
People will start to look with disdain at this channel as it becomes so clogged with rubbish. This will result with them being very choosy about what they spend time reading. (For those wanting to build a list - pack in some solid value for subscription.)
No 2 - Time poor consumers will continue to take advantage of the online space when purchasing services and products. I have a few reasons for this one - here they are as questions for you to ponder. What do you prefer - visiting a mall or a website? When was the last time you used the Yellow Pages? How about Google? Of your preferred ones, which could you easily do while at work?
No 3 - Online marketers will pamper those responsible for writing their copy. Here are just four reasons for this one. Email copy: now it not only needs to grab your subscribers attention and convince them to act but it has to navigate through super complex spam filters.
Landing page copy: yes you will get more eyeballs to this page but its the copy that will convert them to customers. Website copy: with up to 70% of all internet traffic starting at a search engine your search rankings are as important as ever. Web page copy written with both the visitor and the search engine in mind is a key part of your ranking success.
So there are my predictions for the year ahead.
What would yours be?
